The Centre for European Values is non-profit, non-governmental organisation founded in March 2008 by a group of young journalists, art historians, philologists, social workers and jurists interested to advance democratisation process in Serbia on its way to Europe . CEV's founders analysed and estimated the relative failure in implementation of European values and standards in Serbia and the region of Western Balkans. In the same time, we recognized a great need of society for explanation what are European values and standards and what are benefits of their implementation as well.
The mission of the Centre for European Values is to help in realisation of vision that Serbia and the region will become a part of prosperous European society. That process considers insisting on full respect of human and minority rights as a basis of modern society, and a fact that discrimination and speech of hate are unacceptable in any form. We are dedicated to set up of workable transition to modern democratic society, based on equality and equal opportunities for active citizens, who decide about their lives in democratic, civil and legal state, with respect of liberal values and permanent education for all.
Our mission is advocacy for free move of ideas and people, with aim to all members of our society become well informed, active and responsible citizens capable to fight for their professional success and for building better society based on public interests as well. Our role, as we see it, is to raise citizens' awareness on their needs, power and responsibility in consolidation and Europeanisation of our society.
CEV's aims are promotion of freedom and human rights for all, promotion of European values in modern civic society, accomplishment of tolerance, solidarity and equal opportunities for all people, fight against any kind of violence, improvement of understanding and cooperation without any kind of barriers between people, nations, regions and states of Europe, especially in a field of media, culture, education, environment, economy and social care.
